The Bridge Sports Complex to Temporarily Close Beginning August 19th

The Citynet Center will close for up to five days this August for pool maintenance, refinishing of the courts, and other deep cleaning or maintenance projects.

[Bridgeport, WV] July 25, 2024 – To avoid shutdowns throughout the year, the Citynet Center at The Bridge Sports Complex will shut its doors for up to five days beginning August 19th.

Court maintenance requires annual refinishing. While the Citynet Center remained open during maintenance in 2023, many patrons and staff members found the fumes to be unpleasant. Similarly, pool maintenance requires complete draining and refilling of the pools, a process which causes the pools to be inaccessible for several days. Due to these factors, as well as the need for deep cleaning and other maintenance projects, the decision was made to temporarily close the facility and complete all projects concurrently.

Projects include, but are not limited to:

·      Yearly Resurfacing of Wood Floors

·      Required Maintenance of Pool Systems

·      Maintenance Projects Throughout Citynet Center

This decision only affects The Bridge’s indoor complex, the Citynet Center. Outdoor portions of The Bridge Sports Complex, such as the baseball fields, outdoor turf, running trail, and more, will not be affected by the closure.

“Closing the Citynet Center to complete all annual projects at one time will benefit our members and the community by reducing unplanned closures and providing a clean, modern facility. Staff will work diligently to complete projects as efficiently as possible and minimize the length of the closure,” said General Manager Droo Callahan.

Going forward, this closure will be conducted annually.
