Council to Discuss Latest Additions to The Bridge Tonight; Fire Chief Hart to Provide Department Report

Additions to The Bridge Sports Complex will be the primary order of business for City Council at its next regular meeting which will be at 7 p.m. today.
Council will consider and act on two separate contracts that would provide interior items for the indoor facility.
One is the with Summit Lockers in the amount of $75,432 plus a 10 percent contingency of $7,543.20 for a total of $82,975.20 for the supply and installation of lockers.
The other contract up for discussion is with Webster Fitness in the amount of $405,846 for fitness equipment.
“You are starting to see that things are really coming together,” City Manager Randy Wetmore said. “We are getting to some of the basics that people are really going to use when we open up. It’s really starting to take shape.”
Council will also act on approving the August payment of $2,656,433.93 to the Albert M. Higley Company out of Cleveland for its continued work on The Bridge.
Also on the agenda is the reappointment of Shawn Morgan to the Bridgeport Police Service Commission for a term of four years.
One other order of new business will be the acting on accepting the dates for annual strategic planning sessions.
Council will also discuss budget revisions and/or authorizations if any are needed as well as any construction, financing, utilities, communications or management issues related to The Bridge Sports Complex.
Prior to the start of new business, Bridgeport Fire Chief Phil Hart will provide a department report
“Chief Hart has done such a wonderful job,” Wetmore said. “He and his fire fighters, especially dealing with all this COVID stuff, they have just done a wonderful job.”
There are no awards, presentations or proclamations scheduled at this time. There is also no planned work session before the regular meeting starts.
