Resistance Bands
Resistance bands are flexible, lightweight tools used in strength training. They come in different sizes and levels of resistance that can be used for a variety of purposes from growing muscles to rehabilitating injuries in physical therapy. There are many benefits to using these highly versatile bands as part of an exercise program.
Tone muscles – When a resistance band is stretched, it creates tension in the muscles. This tension creates microtears in the muscles being used. Muscle growth, also known as hypertrophy, takes place as the body repairs the microtears.
Lifting dumbbells also promotes muscle growth. When lifting dumbbells, movement is restricted to a fixed motion in one plane. Resistance bands, on the other hand, can be moved in many directions and mimic everyday motions such as throwing or lifting. Bands also enhance stability because they require core activation for balance.
Increase flexibility – Resistance bands improve flexibility by allowing for a deeper stretch. Mobility also improves through the consistent use of resistance bands. Using resistance bands for flexibility & mobility can be done as a warmup, cooldown, or part of a workout.
All ages & fitness levels – Resistance bands are low-impact and have a lower risk of injury than traditional weightlifting options. These attributes make resistance bands an option for everyone –seniors, pregnant women, people recovering from injury, athletes, and more.
Resistance bands are an inexpensive and highly effective tool to include in a fitness regimen. Their versatile nature makes them a worthwhile investment for any wellness goal.
